FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lexington, KY----- June 4, 2015----- From June 15 to July 15, 2015, USHJA invites equestrians from across the country to participate in the 2015 Horsemanship Quiz Stable Challenge, presented by The Plaid Horse. Open to juniors and amateurs, the 30-day HQC Stable Challenge brings barns together to put their horsemanship knowledge to the ultimate test for a chance to win great prizes. In 2015, the availability of bonus points adds a new layer of competition to the challenge.
"The Stable Challenge is all about bringing barns together around one of the most important aspects of our sport - horsemanship," said Cricket Stone, chair of the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Ad Hoc Committee. "We hope it encourages riders to study and then put what they've learned to the test through the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge."
The challenge is simple and is meant to engage a trainer's whole barn. At least three students per trainer must register and complete the online HQC practice quiz for their barn to be eligible to win. At the end of the 30-day challenge, the three top scores under each trainer will be averaged to provide an overall score, and the highest scoring trainer per zone wins a unique trainer-inspired award package with gifts from Equestriancoach.com, Shapley's, Perfect Products, Rood & Riddle, The Plaid Horse and Standlee. In the event of a tie, the fourth highest score for that trainer's barn will be added to the average.
For the first time since the Stable Challenge started in 2013, participants under the age of 21 (per USEF rules) can give their trainer's barn an edge by acquiring bonus points when they take the official Horsemanship Quiz Challenge. Participants who take the Level One and Level Two HQC quizzes will receive 10 bonus points for each level they complete. Those points are then added to their individual scores.
"It's meant to be fun but also educational," continued Stone. "Over the last two years, we've seen equestrians from all ages and backgrounds participate, which makes it so rewarding. Horsemanship is something, as equestrians, we all value and an area in which we never stop learning."
Trainers, coaches and riding instructors whose barns want to participate must be current USHJA members and be declared professional with USEF in order to be eligible to win. To participate, simply go to www.ushja.org/HQC and then take the HQC Practice Quiz from June 15 to July 15. Participants can take the test as many times as they would like.
The Horsemanship Quiz Challenge is supported in part by a generous grant from the United States Equestrian Federation. For more information about the Stable Challenge, visit www.ushja.org/stablechallenge.
